FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 Clients and Testimonials

Below you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions about EyeTracking. Inc.'s services. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact us.

  • Is eye tracking accurate?

Yes. The eye tracking systems used in our studies are extremely accurate, with an average gaze position error <0.5. This accuracy is maintained even with head movement and talking.

  • Does the eye-tracking equipment that you use interfere with the user?

No. All of our eye trackers are non-invasive. Participants in our studies are free to move their heads, blink, talk , etc. Our goal in data collection is to create a realistic interaction with the test materials. We only use eye trackers that allow us to meet this goal.

  • Can you test in other locations aside from San Diego?

Yes. EyeTracking, Inc. possesses portable eye-tracking and data recording systems. We are capable of conducting eye-tracking studies on location anywhere in the United States as well as select locations abroad.

  • On what type of materials can eye-tracking testing be conducted?

Virtually anything with a visual component can be included in the test materials. EyeTracking, Inc. studies have been conducted on software, websites, consumer packages, advertisements, video content, mobile devices, printed materials, scientific tasks, simulators and real world environments. To put it simply - if it can be seen, it can be tested.

  • How expensive is an EyeTracking, Inc. research study?

That depends on several factors – the material being tested, the time of each session, the number of participants, the location, etc. Generally speaking our studies range in cost from $5,000 - $250,000. Yes, that’s quite a large range, but it’s impossible to estimate project costs without project details. Please contact us if you would like a cost estimate.

  • Do clients need to be on location during testing?

No. Study objectives and design can be coordinated via phone or e-mail. Pilot sessions can be streamed to the client to ensure the objectives are being met prior to the start of data collection. The testing sessions can also be streamed live. That said, we love meeting our clients, and we encourage them to attend the research sessions in person.

  • How long do I need to wait for turnaround of my results?

Eye tracking videos are available immediately at the end of the research sessions. Depending on the depth of analysis required to meet study objectives, the final report is delivered 3 – 10 working days after the end of data collection. Top-line results can be produced more quickly if necessary.

  • How many people are tested at a time?

Eye tracking research is typically conducted one-on-one. However, EyeTracking, Inc. has multiple eye tracking systems, and several eye tracking sessions can be run simultaneously in different testing rooms.

  • Can someone with glasses be eye-tracked?

Yes. Most eye trackers are compatible with eye glasses and soft contact lenses, although some systems cannot properly handle bifocals and hard contact lenses.

  • Why wouldn’t I just purchase an eye tracker and run the study myself?

Examining the behavior of the eye requires a specialized set of skills and tools. EyeTracking, Inc. has been conducting this type of research for over a decade. We possess expertise in all components of eye-tracking research – study design, data collection, analysis and reporting.
