Interface Usability

Applications

An easy to use interface is essential for software, computer based training, websites, and more.  EyeTracking Inc. (ETI ) offers cutting edge usability studies that tell you where users look, what they pay attention to, and what they miss. Using our patented Index of Cognitive Activity (ICA), we can even tell you how much mental effort is required to complete a task. Our complete line of offline analyses clarifies the interface’s usability strengths and weaknesses.

Case Study: CNET Digital Living

Purchasing, banking and even bill paying online are convenient, but if customers have a bad experience, or can’t find what they are looking for, they will take their business elsewhere. To ensure your site is accessible and easy to use, try looking at it through their eyes - literally.

ETI offers a full package of usability testing services, including most traditional metrics. For close to the same price as traditional usability testing, ETI offers the clients the additional opportunity of experiencing their site through the eyes of the user. Observe directly where the user looks for information, what elements are missed, and where the user is confused. Point-of-gaze metrics combined with measures of mental effort quickly highlight the key usability areas that could result in economic loss to the client.

User Interface Testing is critical for a successful application. ETI offers testing at all stages of application development. By working directly with clients through ETI’s proven 3 stage process, ETI researchers identify client objectives, develop a testing protocol to meet those objectives, and deliver exceptional results to the application developers. ETI metrics help direct application redesigns targeting usability, visibility, and optimization.

Case Study: Matsushita Avionics

ETI’s patented Index of Cognitive Activity is an indication of mental workload. A critical goal in developing training material is to encourage the right amount of effort put forth by the student. Too low indicates the user is not engaged in the material and is only going through the motions of learning. On the other hand, high levels of mental effort indicate possible overload and confusion, which in turn can limit learning effectiveness. Using the ICA it is possible to determine the success of training material in keeping the users engaged and actively learning, but not overwhelmed. The ICA goes beyond traditional usability testing to identify when and where users encounter difficulties.
